Welcome to the dedicated section on the upcoming pastoral visitation of our beloved parish, Mary, Mother of the Church (MMOC). As affirmed by the "Directory of Bishops," a pastoral visit is recognized as an apostolic endeavor, an event of grace.
In adherence to this significant tradition, our parish undergoes a pastoral visitation every five years. This practice ensures a deepened connection with our spiritual roots and provides an opportunity for profound spiritual renewal.
The last pastoral visit took place in 2015 under the guidance of Fr. Kevin Bettens. It was a time of spiritual reflection, community engagement, and growth for MMOC.
We are thrilled to announce and confirm that the upcoming Pastoral Visit by Archbishop Albert LeGatt is scheduled to take place from November 6 to 12, 2023. This period promises to be a special time of grace, fostering spiritual enrichment and communal growth.
From a faith perspective, conduct a comprehensive review of the parish community, encompassing key components such as faith education across all ages, sacramental and liturgical life, community cohesion, co-responsibility, societal service, and the parish's relationships with the archdiocesan and universal Church.
Establish personal connections with essential figures within the parish, including priests, parish life directors, priest moderators, deacons, pastoral coordinators, pastoral associates, and lay individuals responsible for various aspects of parish life.
Gain a nuanced understanding of the parish's context, including the socio-economic conditions of its people, existing pastoral programs, and the overall operational dynamics of the community.
Provide words of encouragement and hope to those actively engaged in pastoral work and extend this inspiration to the entire parish community.
Conclude the visit by actively participating in the parish community's Eucharistic celebration, with a specific focus on proclaiming the Word of God to further enrich the spiritual experience of the occasion.
